Frequently Asked Questions

What is rake?

Rake is a percentage of the pot taken by the online poker room. When you play a ring game the 'rake' is taken out of each pot, usually 5% of the pot, up to $3. When you enter a tournament the 'rake' is the entry fee, usually 10% of the buy-in. While the amount seems small, it quickly adds up over time and getting a percentage of this money back each month can turn into another paycheck!

Do I always generate rake?

This depends on the poker room. On certain sites rake is calculated when you've been dealt into the hand, on other sites you must contribute to the pot first. Tournaments and SitnGo's are also not raked on certain sites. To learn more about how the rake is calculated at a particular poker room, visit their website and view FAQ section.
